From Mission to Movement
FAJR Scientific began with a clear purpose: to provide advanced surgical care and medical expertise in regions where conflict or disaster has decimated health systems. Its volunteer teams, composed of surgeons and medical specialists, deliver life-saving operations while also investing in training local practitioners. This dual focus ensures that the impact of each mission endures long after visiting teams depart.
“Receiving the MIF Award has strengthened our confidence as a rising non-profit committed to reshaping humanitarian work,”
said Dr. Mosab Nasser, Co-Founder and CEO of FAJR Global.
Innovation Under Pressure
In 2024, FAJR Scientific completed a landmark mission in Gaza, performing more than 150 joint replacements and training 45 local surgeons in advanced techniques. This model of combining direct patient care with capacity-building has become its hallmark. By introducing cutting-edge procedures and technology into fragile settings, FAJR demonstrates that excellence in healthcare is possible even under siege or scarcity.
Partnerships and Recognition
Recognition at the Muslim Impact Forum has opened new pathways for FAJR Scientific to collaborate with international medical institutions and humanitarian agencies. These partnerships are unlocking resources, expertise, and networks to expand its mission portfolio. As one FAJR leader noted, “Recognition is not an endpoint—it is a catalyst for the next chapter of growth and service.”
Scaling the Future of Humanitarian Medicine
Looking ahead, FAJR Scientific aims to expand into new regions while refining its technology-driven approach. Plans include building a digital registry of surgical outcomes to improve transparency and research, and developing mobile training hubs to accelerate skills transfer to local doctors. The long-term goal is not only to save lives but to elevate healthcare systems in the very places that need them most.
Reflecting on FAJR’s journey, Dr. Nasser emphasised that progress demands unity and shared purpose among Muslim organisations:
“We urge Muslim organisations and leaders to unite, for only through unity and solidarity can we withstand recurring global crises, especially the unprecedented tragedy unfolding in Gaza. Unity brings impact, and strong alliances create unshakable fortresses.”
